I’ve been thinking a lot about Bernie these days. What is she like now? What does she need now? What does she want? I think she is similar to a lot of seventeen year olds, in that she is strong willed, doesn’t put up with stupidity, and yet lacks a certain kind of confidence. She doesn’t really know how strong and capable she is. When she acts it is in the moment. She isn’t much of a planner, she just figures out the goal and heads for it. If you want to come fine, if not, fine. This may get her in trouble. But so far she has managed to accomplish most of what she wanted to.
Yes, the second book has been started and Bernie is in the thick of things. She helps to repel a castle siege in a very magical way. And has forgotten, at least for the moment, Craig. The one man she could love. But! She is getting to know all the men of Cullan’s band as well as reuniting with Donal and Willa. Willa is the housekeeper of Rothesay Castle, on the Isle of Bute, and Donal is the head of the garrison. The young king James is not in residence but the castle must have upkeep. The more Bernie discovers her powers the more she seems invincible. But there are more issues coming her way. Do remember her sister Agnes? She is growing up, maybe too quickly, and soon she will be a part of Bernie’s life. You’ll just have to find out how.
